Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

As the name of this blog implies, I had a bad day. Lets start from the beginning.

I woke up early to a different form of communications. These stupid aliens were not only satisfied giving me a headache, they now have to mess with my bowels. I won't go into detail, but it was bad.

So, this morning was bad, I then went to school. I had a test in Physics 2. I wasn't so worried. I mean, the test was open note and open book, how could I do bad? Well, I could and did. This wasn't because of some crazy inaptitude on my part, it was because I didn't have a calculator. Apparently, Sheena had to do some calculations last night and needed my TI-86 to do so. She borrowed it and forgot to put it back in my bag. So, there I was, without a calculator, in a Physics 2 exam. It sucked. I knew what I was doing, I just couldn't, for some reason, do exponents in my head. What is wrong with me, everyone knows what [(4.0x10^-6)/(9.0x10^9)]+[(3.25x10^-7)^2] is without using a calculator. I'm just a moron.

As if that wasn't bad enough, we had a test in Cell Biology Wednesday. I thought I did very well on it. I was dead wrong. I made a 68%. I was so shocked that I almost cried. Every question that I got wrong was either a stupid mistake, or one of the trickiest questions that I've ever seen. They still bother me. My professor said that we could make an argument for what we got wrong, just that she wouldn't change the grade. So, am I arguing for her benefit? What the fuck?! Arg.

Then, I had to go to Organic Chemistry, which I think is made up. We're doing something so crazy in that class I can't even explain it. Basically, we're studying the infared spectrum of organic molecules. Each functional group on a molecule codes for a different portion in the spectrum, but it can be changed by the presence of other functional groups. So, we have to figure out what a molecule is by its IR spectra, it's fucking insane! You would think that maybe the molecule is an alcohol, but it's NOT! You know why? Because the -OH functional group has a peak at 3200 and not 3100, or because that -OH group has another peak going off it to make it a keytone! When he told us something in class, that made no sense to me, I actually told him that he was making it up as he went along. Maybe not the best thing to tell the person who is grading your exams.

I spent 6 hours at work calling people and telling them about the difference of the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 3-Shitty. Out of 93 people that I got ahold of, only 1 person chose the Xbox 3-shitty rather than the Xbox 360. Almost 1 out of 100. Microsoft should see these numbers. I bet some people won't have a choice when all they can find the the Xbox 3-shitty. I realized today that I would never be a telemarketer, and I hate Jeremy. He's having so much fun at conference. No he didn't get to play a Xbox 360, but he did recieve almost $300 worth of free stuff. Damnit!

Well, I'm going to put this day to an end and go watch Star Trek, good old Captain Picard won't disappoint me.

Communications

The aliens are communicating with my stomach now. I'll let your imaginations take that one away.

Avenged Sevenfold

I've found another band that I'm fairly interested in. They're called Avenged Sevenfold and they're website is this: www.avengedsevenfold.com. The song that interested me was called "Bat County" or something. I've heard it a couple of times on the Buzz, but not so much to say that you all will have heard of it. It's a cool song, at least by my standards. They've had a couple albums out, but nothing I've heard of before.

Something else I'm trying to do now is find a Halloween Costume. I've tossed a couple of ideas around and I want you alls opinion. I can go as a video game character, no idea who, I thought it would be cool to go as Kratos from God of War, I've thought about going as a Mad Scientist, and then I could go as someone else, insert idea here. I'll look in a couple of days and see what I think.

I was communicated with Monday morning. It was not a pleasent conversation because it took me out of all my classes. I was pissed at my stupid head for getting the damn headache. When I went to get some sinus medicine at Wal-Mart, I had to wait at the pharmacy because they stupid stuff is a controlled substance now. They didn't even have the stuff that I wanted. They just had the stupid plastic slip that holds its place on the shelf. Not a good way to merchandise if you ask me.

Oh well, I guess I'm going to go to work, today will be a long day.

Back after popular demand!

I wasn't planning on blogging in awhile, but, today I have nothing overly important to do, so I figured it would be a good idea. First of all, I was so happy to see all of you yesterday. It felt really good to be back and visit. I am not happy that my wife dragged me away so quickly. I know she had to work this morning, but I wasn't given a time table until it she got tired and then I was forced to leave against my will. That is the last I will say about it, less I hurt someone's feelings.

Nintendo has gone fucking bonkers! The new Revolution controller just looks crazy. I love it! I think it is awesome that they will go absolutely crazy and make something so weird. I just want to see how it works out. I really think it'll be ok as long as they can make the software fit the hardware, (i.e. Advanced Wars and Kirby on the DS). Also, if they can make a kick ass Zelda on the Revolution, I'm game for at least a few hours.

In the work side of things, Jeremy is going to Conference this coming week. He'll be gone Wednesday through Sunday. I'll be working a lot and there is actually a contest between the Assistant Managers about who can get the most Subscriptions and Reserves for these games: Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on PSP, NBA Live on multiple consoles, and SOCOM III on PS2. If any of you feel the need to come to my store and reserve one of those titles with me, then I would appreciate it. It's not like I care about impressing anyone in the company anymore, but It would be nice to get an extra $250 on a paycheck. I also want to get something because I'm not going to be able to play the Xbox 360 like Jeremy will be. He just got a cell phone so he can call me and tell me how amazing the system was.

Did you know Cingular has free wireless to wireless calls? I didn't.

I know Sean doesn't like reviews, but I would like to try my hand at reviewing the recent Burnout Revenge game on the Xbox. You don't have to read if you don't want to Sean.

Burnout Revenge is an awesome game. It is indeed a good follow up to Burnout 3. The racing is absolutely amazing and the graphics are phenomenal. I am hard pressed to find a better looking racing game on any console. The controls just get better and better, the sense of speed just goes crazy and I almost can't handle it. That's bad because I usually fancy myself with quick reflexes. Those skills are almost moo, like a cow's opinion, when pit against Burnout Revenge's insane levels and disturbingly aggressive A.I. That is also another grand improvement. The A.I. is absolutely wonderful and challenging. It would almost seem flawless, until I try out the ever popular Crash Mode. This is where the game takes a sharp dive into obscurity. They fucked it up. That's the best way to put it. Some people might like the ever increasing complexity of the Crash mode, but I don't. I think it is absolutely retarded. It's overly complex and takes away from the experience. Crash mode was awesome when it was just an intersection and you had a lot of ways to take out as many cars as possible. In Revenge, the mechanics just take the fun out of it, I don't even see where the actual effects of my carefully place wreckage ends up. The camera zooms right at your car and everything else gets blurry. The only thing I do like about crash mode is that you can explode your car multiple times. I'm going to get off Crash mode, that bothers me. Another great addition to the racing is putting ramps around the track. This gives a vertical area to the game and even allows for Takedown's in places otherwise not available. You can actually fall onto someone and take them out, I love that. Finally, a piece to the puzzle that I love, the ability to take out same-way traffic. You can actually fuck the cars in front of you up as much as your opponents. You can use the traffic as missiles and it is just awesome. This does take away from the difficulty of the game, but having smarter opponents makes up for it. In one Road Rage level, the Opponents in front of me were taking out traffic as was I and I can only describe the visuals as amazing. Cars were flying everywhere, almost like in a tornando, you had to dodge them, get up the the rivals and attack them, this is truely Burnout at its finest. On a scale from 1-10, I give the graphics a 9.75, I give the gameplay a 9.0 (mainly because of the bumbling crash mode), and the replay value is as high as ever. EA games may have fucked over the NFL games, but the could never completely ruin one of the best racing franchises in the world.

Oh yeah, Organic Chemistry is fucking insane!
